Woodford Gaia Community Garden Fundraiser

4 September 2011 One Comment

The spirit of the community was out last night when Michelle Coates and Phil Boyle opened their home to the Woodford Community and catered for the Woodford Gaia community garden fundraiser.  Phil, with his self
built pizza maker, made delicious pizza and the ladies followed with their scrumptious desserts.  Sixty plus people joined in the fun, singing, dancing and chatting together.

Kevin and his mates entertained us with their fantastic music as we sat around the fire.

The musicians

They are hoping to make this a monthly event at the Community Garden at the Bush House.  The plan is to build a pizza oven and then we can all enjoy the garden, the food and the excellent music.

With the good turn out they managed to raise a worthwhile amount of money.

Crate climbing for the children

If anyone would like to join in and help establish the community garden they can turn up on any Sunday at the Bush House.  Children are also welcome and its a good opportunity for them to learn how to grow their own vegies, like my own children, who also helped themselves to snow peas and manderines.  When they start to get bored they join up with the other children and make up their own games together.

Afterwards you can go to the Inspiration Centre for coffee or herbal teas served by lovely hostess, Cherie Conrad.  This can be paid for by LETS points or cash.  Its also a gift shop and has second hand clothing that you can browse around.  Its a very peaceful environment to meet your fellow Woodfordians.
