Who’s Chatting to Your Kids?

Tips for parents of children with mobile phones:

Choose a mobile phone for your child that does not feature internet access, or alternatively speak with your carrier to block internet access. All carriers provide this service
Talk to your carrier about blocking services that are not required on your child’s phone. While GPS and other features can be useful, consider the implications of a complete stranger being able to pinpoint the exact location of your child. Blocking or restricting services can include the opportunity to limit incoming and outgoing calls, text, instant …

The Pigs Playing at Woodford Hotel October 15

After wowing audiences at The Gympie Muster, The Pigs bring their bluegrass fuelled madness to Samford, Woodford and Woody Point… including their new single, Macho Moisturiser.
Men’s skin care products aren’t the first thing people associate with country ballads, but
The Pigs is a band that has always revelled in pushing boundaries. This July the band shot the video for Macho Moisturiser, a truly whacky affair involving, among other things, a giant fish, a crocodile suit, a wooden sheep and a live duck!
An offbeat parody of an infomercial, the video follows the …

Help Mayor Allan Sutherland Save Splendour

I need your help to save Splendour in the Grass and stop it being killed off by the red tape of faceless bureaucrats in New South Wales.
Don’t let the music die.
Join my online petition to help me keep Splendour in the Grass safe at Woodford permanently.
The endless planning approval nightmare imposed on Splendour by Byron Shire Council is the reason why Australia’s premier music festival has sought sanctuary at Woodford for the past two years.
Now Byron Shire wants to limit the number of people who can attend Splendour in the …

D’Aguilar Highway Petition Update

Mr POWELL (Glass House—LNP) (3.03 pm):
This week I tabled both an e-petition and a paper petition from concerned community members regarding the state of the D’Aguilar Highway. Interestingly, I did this almost two years to the day since I first did that and, frustratingly, the government still has not addressed the safety on this increasingly busy state road. Two years ago the constituents of Glass House and I were calling for urgent safety upgrades to the D’Aguilar Highway, particularly between Caboolture and Woodford.
To be honest, I had high hopes. We …

The safety for motorists along the D’Aguilar Highway continues to be a constant concern for local road users and the State Member, Andrew Powell, is demanding that something be done about it now.
“The Government knows this road is a hazard yet they refuse to hand over the money that is needed to make necessary upgrades and ultimately save lives.
“A funding submission was put to the ‘Black Spot Funding’ program and all requests for an update on the submission have gone unanswered from both State and Federal Governments.
“Locals have communicated to …
