Tickets For Splendour In The Grass Woodford Sold Out!

Woodford Folk Festival has become such a great success, and now we have a new festival arriving on out doorsteps on a temporary basis, Splendour In The Grass. A 660 acre North Byron Parklands site at Yelgun in the Byron Shire is undergoing the comprehensive approval process with the NSW Department of Planning for a permanent cultural event venue. Why does Woodford State High School Need To Go To Year 12 Level?

There has been lengthy discussions about this subject over the years but nothing has happened. At the moment you can send your child to Woodford High School for years 8-10. After that you have to move your child to a new school to finish their education.
The other option is to send your child to either Kilcoy High School, Tullawong, or Caboolture High. Of course there are also a list of private schools available. The problem with all these options is that  for most of us it costs extra money for …

Bob Hawke came to the Woodford Folk Festival this year (2009/2010) and included a quick visit to Grapelands, our local rocking fruit shop. Obviously Bob and his wife Blanche considered Grapelands a must see tourist attraction in Woodford. In this short video below Elvis Parsley (Nick Comino) sings “return to sender” with Bob Hawke.

The New Woodford

As everywhere, Woodford is now expanding. Once a quiet country town, Woodford is now becoming more populated which brings growth in every aspect. As we start to lose Woodford’s country identity and become more suburbia orientated, some people are disappointed their town is growing and others are enjoying the new opportunities brought by the growing population.

Apparently Woodford prison is not as busy as it used to be which means less hours for the workers.
Some workers are not getting enough hours in Woodford and are now being sent to other correctional facilities to make up some hours. Others are not getting any work at all.
Approximately one third of the prison has been shutdown.
