$3.3 Million towards the Woodfordia Infrastructure Upgrade

The Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Simon Crean MP and Senator for Queensland Mark Furner today announced the Australian Government has delivered on its commitment to provide up to $3,300,000 to the Queensland Folk Federation Inc for the Woodfordia Infrastructure Upgrade project in Woodford.
The project will upgrade infrastructure at the Woodfordia Festival site including water and sewerage work, site drainage, electrical distribution, communications and landscaping.
The administration office will also be upgraded and new amenity blocks, storage sheds and a workshop will be constructed.

New Bridge Unites Two Regions

A new $2 Million bridge linking the Somerset and Moreton Bay regions has been declared open to traffic and eliminated an early twentieth century infrastructure relic from the road network. The 27 metre two-lane bridge situated on Neurum Road over Neurum Creek was formally commissioned on 16 September 2010 by Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann, Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Division 12 Councillor Adrian Raedel and the Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann.

Year 11 and 12 at Woodford High School denied!

Sadly, if you made the effort to sign the petition to get Woodford High school extended to years 11 and 12, you would have recieved this letter of denial in an email. If you read on below it basically states that Woodford would not have enough enrollments to warrant adding the higher levels to the school. “The department therefore considers that there is no requirement for woodford state school to be expanded to cater for years 11 and 12 in the foreseeable future.”

New Woodford Kindy opens early for Term 3

Children in Woodford will enjoy an even bigger head start to their education with the new Woodford C&K Community Kindergarten opening in July, six months ahead of schedule.
Originally planned to open in 2011, the new kindergarten service will welcome its first group of children in Term 3, 2010 with places still available.
The Woodford C&K Community Kindergarten is operated by C&K and provides a quality early childhood education program, delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher, for 15 hours a week, 40 weeks a year.

After many years of Committees and Sub-comittees the Woodford Aged Care Association’s  project has been approved and they are now building retirement villas for over 55′s at 16-24 Margaret Street Woodford.  It has been a long time coming for our aged population in Woodford and the Villa’s are being snapped up.  Bev Clyne Treasurer for Woodford Aged Care Association Inc reports that 12 of the villas are now under contract and selling fast.

Surviving without power for more than an hour in this day and age is unbearable for us technology minded people. However when it is for a good cause like upgrading the power around Woodford and surrounding areas, we can learn to grin and bear it. Electricians having been trying to get the power upgraded  in Woodford for years, and now finally the operation has the green light.
