Delaneys Creek School Competes Under Their Own Name in Glasshouse Districts Athletics

It was the first time that Delaneys Creek State School competed under the Schools name instead of being under the banner of  “Mountain Small Schools” in Glasshouse District Athletics.  Breaking away from other small schools like Mt Mee and Mt Kilcoy,  Delaneys now has grown in size with 208 pupils.
It was great to see the children of Delaneys Creek State School with their new sports shirts  proudly parading around the field under their own school banner.

Delaneys Creek Students play Touch Football for Glasshouse Districts

There were 6 Delaneys Creek School students who made it to the Glasshouse District School Sports for Touch Football.
The Student representative for the boys Touch in 2011 were Year 7 boys Ty Coutts and Steele Forde, Year 6 boys were Jackson Hepner and Edward Draper.
The Students that represented the girls touch in 2011 were Year 7 girls Talia Trundell and Grace Warren.
The students travelled to Beerwah weekly to train with their fellow representative teams for 6 weeks.  It took time, dicipline and lots of running around for parents.  But well worth the …

Senator Mark Furner opens multipurpose hall and library at Delaneys Creek State School

It was smiles all round at Delaneys Creek State School for the official opening of their library and multi-purpose hall – affectionately known as the Explore Centre and the Giraffe Shed.
Senator for Queensland Mark Furner was delighted to officially open these new facilities today built under the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution program (BER).
Delaneys Creek State School received $2,125,000 under the National School Pride (NSP) program and Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) element of the BER.

Delaneys Creek Students running in District Cross Country

 
The District cross country was held on Friday, 6 May at St Michaels picturesque school.  Sixteen of Delaneys Creek students participated in the race.  The track that the children ran on was faultless.  Before take off the children were allowed to familiarize themselves with the track by walking around it.  Once warmed up, the 10 year old girls started the 2km race.  The other age groups had to complete 3km.
All the students completed the course to the best of their ability, showing good sportsmanship …

Delaneys Creek School Cross Country winners

It was touch and go on Thursday, 28 April whether the children would be able to run their Cross Country race.  The official start was 9.15am, but when the clouds started to build up and the heavens opened, the Principal of Delaneys Creek State School, Mr Stuart Maish, made the decision to postpone the race until 12 noon.
Disappointed children returned to their classrooms and parents raced off to fit in a few chores before returning at noon.

Anzac Day Service at Delaneys Creek State School

Anzac Day, this year, falls on Easter Monday, but make no mistake the significance of this day will still be in the forefront of our minds.  We will remember our fallen soldiers, ex serviceman and our soldiers in service today.
Many of the Schools around the area had their Anzac Parades early as this year school holidays started on 15 April.

Delaneys Creek School Easter Bonnet Parade

Every year at Delaneys Creek School the Prep to Grade 3′s  set out to make some creative colourful Easter Bonnets.  This event is definitely one of the children’s favourite activities at school.
The children proudly parade around in a line as parents and family members stand watching those happy little faces. After parading around, all the children come together as a group and sing the “toothbrush song” to everyone. This is an exciting day for the children and sets the mood for the Easter holidays.

Woodford and Delaneys Creek boys picked for Rugby League School District

Trials for the Rugby League School Districts were held at Beerwah football grounds on 7 March.  The school boys selected for the 12 y.o. boys for Rugby League Glass House Mountain District, from Delaneys Creek State School, were Ty Coutts, Flynn Nation and Brendon Davis.  The ll y.o. boy selected for this district from Delaneys Creek State School was Jonathan Cash.
The school boy picked for Rugby League Caboolture District from Woodford State School was Connor Jackson.

Colourful changes to Delaneys Creek School Sport Houses

After much debate at the P&C meetings it was decided, due to the growing
numbers in the school, they needed to add another house for sport,
hoping the change of colour would ignite spirit into the children to do
well for their house.  It was decided that Delaneys Creek School Sports
House names should stick to the mountain theme, but change the colours
of the houses.  Mt Neurum was added as the third house.  So yellow was
picked for Mt Delaneys, red for Mt Archer and blue for Mt Neurum.
