The spirit of the community was out last night when Michelle Coates and Phil Boyle opened their home to the Woodford Community and catered for the Woodford Gaia community garden fundraiser. Phil, with his self
built pizza maker, made delicious pizza and the ladies followed with their scrumptious desserts. Sixty plus people joined in the fun, singing, dancing and chatting together.
Kevin and his mates entertained us with their fantastic music as we sat around the fire.

At the Bush House there is a new coffee shop in town. The coffee shop is right next to LJ Hookers in Archer Street. It is not just any coffee shop, this is a unique coffee shop run by volunteers. Woodford folk have stepped up once again with their community spirit. Opening day was Sunday, 29 May.

We had a great day at the Variety baby show last Saturday, which was held at the Wamuran Community Hall. My daughter “Nikki”, 3 years old, thoroughly enjoyed herself running and playing with the other children and chasing ballons while awaiting a chat with the judge. Registration and judging for babies 1yr & under was at 9am, while kiddies 1-4yrs judging was at 10.30am, which just flew by while Nikki played and I enjoyed a cuppa and piece of cake.

Flights range from 1/2 hr for $75 up to $150 depending on amount of time in the air.

The start of 2011 has been devastating for so many.
As part of Variety Queensland, the children’s charity fundraising efforts for 2011, will be a Baby Show in Wamuran.
The Baby Show to be held on May 21 at the Wamuran Community Hall will not only raise much needed funds but will also raise the awareness of the importance of charities like Variety in local communities.
Variety Queensland board member and local Wamuran resident Craig Marriott said, “Charities like Variety are vital especially after the start we have had this year.”

Councillor Raedel delivered a $500.00 cheque from the Moreton Bay Regional Council to help with the expenses of running the Woodford Show Ball.

Indulging the appetites of sweet-tooths isn’t something you would normally see at St Paul’s Lutheran Primary School. But Friday 25th of March was an exception. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies and confectionery were happily purchased by students, staff and parents, in a whole-day event organised to raise money for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Mr Roy will have his hair shaved to a number two length and coloured at the Morayfield Shopping Centre this Saturday 12th March 2011 at between 11 and 11.30am.
Mr Roy is supporting the World’s Greatest Shave to support the Leukaemia Foundation and raise money for research into a cure for Leukaemia.

We are all aware of the recent flooding and the effect that it has had on our community, our district and our state. On Saturday 22nd January the Stanley River Valley Community Church will be having a Family Movie Night to raise funds for those affected by the floods.

Tony Moroney, one of our locals from D’Aguliaur, is on a mission to help the “Heart Kids Queensland” organisation. He recently visited Beaudesert for a Tattoo Show and it was there that he met Melissa, who was fundraising for the organisation. Meeting her two year old son is what really tugged at Tony’s heart strings. The little boy had already had multiple operations in his short life. Unfortunately, he still has more to go. The Mount Kilcoy Dance Group Charity Dance was well patronised by 70 local and visiting dancers. It was the last Benefit Dance to be held by the group for the year 2010. The Memorial Hall floor was the best it has been and held the dancers on the floor all evening enjoying the music played by “The Soul Mates”.
