The Woodford community took the opportunity to attend an open forum in Woodford last night, organised by local LNP Member Andrew Powell MP, to discuss their desire to expand the current P-10 school to incorporate Year 11 and 12.
Mr Powell had arranged for local Councillor Adrian Raedel and community member Michelle Hewitt to attend the meeting and share their experience with those present. Shadow Minister for Education, Dr Bruce Flegg MP, was also invited to hear first hand the challenges faced by this tight knit community.

The photography groups kicks off the year Wednesday 1st February 2012 6.30pm – 7.30pm (6 week blocks). Here is your opportunity to come and be with other photography enthusiasts and join in some great photography activities and excursions.

This year’s Woodfordia Folk Festival has not (so far) been tainted by the annual uncertainty or intensity of weather patterns typical for this time of year. In fact most of us are enjoying a welcome break from the stifling heat or heavy downpours, which usually turn everything to slush and sludge.

The Opening Ceremony on the first night of Woodford Folk Festival is dedicated to The Dreaming.
Patrons are invited to join with Dreaming festival artists in a huge clapsticks procession commencing at the Ceremonial Pond on the Village Green and culminating at the Amphitheatre, where the first piece of a Global puzzle will be placed.
Noel Blair, Representative of the Traditional Custodians of the Jinibara Nation, has been working around the clock, hand-making 200 sets of clapsticks, which will be distributed to participants on the first day of the festival.

It has been a wonderful, busy, exciting and satisfying year here at the Bush House.
The Woodford Gaia Community Garden, which started in April, has beautifully tamed the wilderness that was the back of the block. This year has been the year of getting the infrastructure in place ready for a big 2012. To recap – the area has been cleared, mulched and planted out with vegies and herbs. Great turn out at the Lions Street Carnival in Woodford on Friday 9th December. There were people everywhere and all seemed to be having a great time. Children had so many activities to see and do that parents had a hard time keeping track of them.
Woodford Fire Brigade put on a spectacular show and made everyone start to think about how to react when the oil catches on fire in the kitchen. Fire fighters threw a cup of water on the oil fire and the fire doubled in size, the flames …

On Friday, 9 December 2011 from 5.20pm onwards the Woodford Street
Carnival is back. In the previous 2 years the carnival has been held at
the Showgrounds, but because of popularity, the carnival has been
brought back to the main streets of Woodford.
So make sure you don’t miss the entertainment. There will be rides,
petting zoo, market stalls, prizes and lots of entertainment, plus local
community raffles in Raffle Alley and the famous Ambo’s Ham Wheel.
That’s not all, there will also be lots to eat at the bbq, plus drinks

It was a lovely service held at Woodford Memorial Park. On a significant day 11 November 2011, Remembrance Day.
Graham Bleakley welcomed everyone and Reverand Steve Thomas from Stanley River Valley Community Church followed with a prayer.
Ron Nipperess let us know that it was the 100th anniversary for the Australian Navy this year.
He introduced Madeline Pickering from Woodford State School who read a beautiful poem ‘ In Flanders Fields’.
Next was the laying of the wreaths, which can be emotional for those who have been through a war and lost friends and family.
