$40m National Crime Prevention Fund announced grants available for our community

Senator for Queensland Mark Furner encouraged local councils and not-for-profit community groups to apply for grants available under a new $40 million National Crime Prevention fund announced today by the Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Justice Jason Clare.

The National Crime Prevention Fund will target crime hotspots, and will fund:

Grants to local councils for security infrastructure like closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and lighting; and

Youth mentoring and outreach programs run by not-for-profit community organisations.

Anzac Day 2013

There were two Anzac day services at Woodford Memorial Park on Anzac Day 2013. One was held at dawn where there was a big turn out despite the time of day.  The other being the march off followed by 10.30am main service.
Many watched the march,which included local schools, sporting clubs, SES, Ambulance services, Fire services and as every year the motorcycle clubs.  All marched, rode or drove proudly down the street remembering our lost and current servicemen who are fighting or have fought for our country.

Graziers Show Strong Support for Grazing BMP

More than 100 graziers from across the state have thrown their support behind a grazing Best Management Practice (BMP) program at AgForce’s Cattle Policy forum in Charters Towers, calling on all livestock producers to become involved and help shape the future of Queensland’s beef industry.
After gaining the support of the Queensland Government earlier this year, Grazing BMP is now receiving strong support from graziers who say it’s the ‘best way to move the industry forward’.

Boost for Glass House Community Groups

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP has welcomed the allocation of $166,778.94 for nine local community groups from State Government funding.

Millions of dollars have been provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Mr Powell said organisations within the Glass House electorate to receive funding in this round were:

Conondale Swimming Pool Committee Inc, $6,116.00 to develop program and purchase equipment
Bellthorpe Rural Fire Brigade, $17,932.18 to install solar system
Eudlo Horse and Pony Club Inc, $19,624.00 to upgrade fence
